Museum Rules

Welcome to the Crow! Admission is free. We look forward to seeing you enjoying the Museum. Please review the guidelines and policies below; they are in place to help all our guests make the most of their experience, while also protecting the artwork in our galleries. We are committed to creating a safe and enjoyable experience for our team and visitors.

Our staff are here to help you and answer any questions. Children are always welcome, but at age 12 and under they must be always accompanied by an adult.

Please do not touch works of art

Your touch may not seem like much, but even the slightest contact can damage the surface of a painting, discolor stone, and even rust metal.

Keep a safe distance between you and each work of art

Stay at least 24 inches from the artwork, or about an arm’s length away. This will avoid accidental bumping or touching.

Do not lean on walls or cases to write or for physical support

This helps to keep the art safe. Feel free to sit on the seating provided in the galleries.

Use only pencil in the galleries to write or draw

You are welcome to sketch and write in the galleries; however, only pencils may be used. Pencil marks are easier to remove than a pen mark should an accidental mark happen in unintended places. Sketchbooks should be no larger than 15 inches on the longest edge.

No food or drink is allowed in the galleries

We do not allow any food or drink in the galleries, but you are welcome to consume food and beverages in the lobby at our “Grab & Go” area before entering the galleries.

Photography

We welcome visitors to photograph, without flash, works of art for personal use. There may be a sign for no photography on an object label, or for an exhibition occasionally. This means photography is prohibited for a particular artwork, a group of works or a whole exhibition. Lenders occasionally restrict photography of their works, and the Museum must follow the lenders’ requirements. Self-sticks, tripods, and monopods are not allowed in the galleries. Refer to our complete Photography and Filming Guidelines for more information.

Electrical Outlets

Please do not use electrical outlets in the museum galleries, you may charge your device using the outlets in the lobby area.

Backpacks

Small backpacks and diapers bags are allowed, but only worn on your front. We offer a complimentary coat and parcel check. Please check bags that are larger than 15 × 15 × 5 inches, umbrellas, and any other bulky items.
